An airborne natural gas pipeline leakage inspection instrument developed by the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Academy of Sciences has passed its flight test successfully in Shandong province recently. The instrument is the first airborne active remote sensor in China. The flight test result shows that it has the performance comparable with that of the similar commercial instruments in the world and is full of promise to be used to monitor the natural gas pipeline leakage in China in the future.
