The foundation-laying ceremony for Jiading Park, a new scientific research area of Shanghai Institute of technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SITP, CAS) was held in Shanghai’s Jiading district on May 12, 2012.

The Jiading Park covers an area of 117 Mu. Its first-stage project, due to complete by the end of 2013, is comprised of building for infrared focal plane fabrication, building for installation and testing of opto-electronic system, auxiliary houses, and technical centers for development of infrared detectors for space applications, precision machining of large diameter optical components and mechanical parts and installation and testing of large optical remote sensing systems.

The ceremony was presided over by CAS Vice president SHI Erwei who viewed the Park significant for SITP’s innovative development in the future.
