China's second ocean color satellite, named HY-1B, was successfully sent into orbit on April 11 (Beijing time). As an important part of China's ocean monitoring system, the satellite will be used for surveying ocean resources and monitoring ocean environment. It will be of great help to various fields, including development and utilization of oceanic resources, construction and management of ports, prevention and control of oceanic pollution, global climate changes research.
